Feel Good Suffolk is a free, healthy lifestyles service for people living in Suffolk. The service supports adults who want help to stop smoking, manage their weight or become more physically active.

Stop smoking

If you’re ready to stop smoking, we can help you make a plan and support you along the way.

Depending on your needs, support may include: 

  • One-to-one support from a trained advisor for up to 12 weeks 
  • Nicotine replacement therapy (such as patches or gum) 
  • Vape starter kits 
  • Access to group support and Allen Carr stop smoking sessions 
  • Stop smoking medication  
  • Use of the Smokefree app

Weight management

We can help you make realistic, sustainable changes to the way you eat, move and live.

Depending on your needs, support may include: 

  • A 12-week healthy weight programme, delivered in person or online 
  • Support focused on food, physical activity, sleep and stress 
  • A self-guided online option for those who prefer to work at their own pace

Depending on your needs, support may include: 

  • A 12-week exercise referral programme at a local leisure centre for people with health conditions 
  • Funded activity sessions at leisure centres

Who can use Feel Good Suffolk?

Feel Good Suffolk is for people living in Suffolk who would like support to stop smoking, manage their weight or become more physically active.

Some of our programmes have additional eligibility criteria. We'll help you understand what support is available to you when you get in touch.

How do I refer myself to Feel Good Suffolk?

You can refer yourself using our online referral form here: Make a self-referal 

If you would prefer help to complete the form, call 0345 603 4060. A member of your local council’s customer services team can complete it with you over the phone. 

What happens after I refer myself?

Your referral will be sent to your local Feel Good Suffolk team. They will review the information you’ve given and contact you to talk about the type of support that may suit you best. 

We may contact you by phone, text or email. Please check your junk or spam folder in case our email goes there. 

How long will it take before I hear from someone?

We aim to contact you within one week of receiving your referral. During busy periods it may take a little longer, but we will get in touch as soon as possible. 

I referred myself over a week ago but haven't heard anything. What should I do?

Before getting in touch, please check the following: 

  • Look in your junk or spam email folder. 
  • Our messages may show as coming from ‘access-elemental’. This is our secure system and the message is from us. 
  • You may have received a message asking for more information before we can move your referral forward.

Are there any services that Feel Good Suffolk does not provide?

Yes, there are a number of support services that Feel Good Suffolk does not offer.

These include:

- Prescription and/or administration of weight loss medication (including injections or tablets)
- Support for those wishing to undergo bariatric surgery
- Support to stop vaping (but information is available on our website here: Stop vaping - Feel Good Suffolk).
- Counselling and therapeutic services
- Clinical interventions or advice
- NHS Health Checks
- Child Weight Management

We are also unable to refer clients into clinical support.

What if I need specialist weight-management support?

Feel Good Suffolk provides general advice on healthy eating and lifestyle changes. This is suitable for most people looking to lose weight.  

If you feel that you need a different type of support, you should discuss your options with your GP. There are other services and programmes which may be more suitable for your needs. These include:

- National programmes for people with specific health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension.

- The local Weight Management and Complex Obesity service (WMCOS). This service offers specialist dietary advice, medications and bariatric surgery, subject to eligibility and clinical prioritisation. More information can be found here. Your GP will be able to submit a referral to these services if appropriate for your needs.

Can I refer someone else?

You can refer someone else only if you have their consent. Please make this clear on the referral form. 

A GP or other healthcare professional can also make a referral on someone’s behalf. 

I would like to join a Wellbeing Walk. Are these still available?

Yes! There are around 90 different wellbeing walks to choose from, with over 1,000 people walking every month. Whether you enjoy a gentle stroll along the Suffolk coast or a walk through a local country park, there’s a walk to suit different ages, abilities and fitness levels.
