Aids to quit
Quitting smoking is easier when you have a plan and the right support. Many people try to quit with willpower alone, but going cold turkey can be tough.
By preparing ahead and using stop-smoking products or getting expert help, you can really boost your chances of quitting for good.
Vaping to quit
Nicotine vaping is less harmful than smoking. It’s also one of the most effective tools for quitting smoking.
Quit with NRT
Quitting becomes much easier when you use stop-smoking products like nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs).
Nicotine free medicine
Nicotine-free medicines are less well known than other stop smoking products, but they are an incredibly effective way to help you stop smoking.
NHS Better Health
The NHS Quit Smoking app is designed to provide you with personalised support to help you quit smoking for good.
The app allows you to:
- track your progress
- see how much you’re saving
- get daily support
- get inspired by others
Once you reach 28 days smoke-free, you’re much more likely to quit for good!

Our free, Group Stop Smoking sessions will provide you with an opportunity to join others on the same journey, to quit smoking together with the support and expertise of a Stop Smoking Advisor and your choice of products (either NRT or Swap to Stop).
The group meets weekly for 6 weeks and is provided with information, tips and tricks on how to stop smoking, whilst supporting one another and sharing experiences.
Areas we'll look at include:
* Why do you smoke and reasons for quitting (money, health, secondary smoke).
* Nicotine dependency; routines, habits and triggers; coping strategies.
