As we come to the end of Stoptober, we wanted to congratulate all those brave souls who took the plunge and set a quit date.
Feel Good Suffolk in its first year has helped many more to set a date and stick to it.
We can support your quit attempt in several different ways, and you are 3 times more likely to quit with support like ours than going it alone.
We all know that smoking is bad for us but it’s only when you stop that you really start to feel and see the differences in your life.
We asked some of our clients to comment on their journey and tell us what impact quitting had on them.
Emma
Emma came to Feel Good Suffolk to quit smoking and pledged to put away the money she was saving on cigarettes. For many smokers, the ever-increasing price of a pack is a major outgoing in their weekly spend so it’s not surprising that when Emma talked to us, she had saved enough money to book a holiday. And that’s not all, Emma told us how much better she feels now she has quit the habit. She also talked about recovering her sense of smell and taste which has been a highlight for her.
Caroline
Then we have Caroline who is a COPD sufferer. She’d been advised by her doctor to quit and came to us for support. She is now 11 weeks in – has come off the patches and is managing now with only the inhalator.
She has seen a massive improvement in her health and wellbeing as a result of kicking smoking into touch.
Both Emma and Caroline have been blown away (pardon the pun) by the support they have received from our wonderful Feel Good Suffolk Advisers.
Feel Good Suffolk has a range of support for smokers to help them quit. Not least our fully trained staff work with each person to find the pathway that fits them.
We are all different and what works for one person won’t fit another.
What seems to be universal though is the importance of social support in helping you quit for good. Being able to talk and share your journey and get feedback and be accountable is important motivation that will turn your goals into wins.
We feel so strongly about this we have just trialled our first Stop Smoking Support Group in Ipswich, which will be rolled out across the county in the coming months.
So, what is stopping you? It might be the end of October, but it could be the beginning of a new life. So, pick up the phone, or refer online to get the support you need to quit smoking and feel good.
